Working
cow horse or reined cow horse is a type of Western riding competition
in which horse and rider are tested for ability to work cattle. In
Reined Cow Horse, the horses are judged on accuracy, timing, and
responsiveness in reining work, cow work, and for some events, herd
work. Reined cow horse events are "open" to all breeds and held Nationally by the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA), and locally by Affiliates of the NRCHA. Click HERE for more information on the history of the Reined Cow Horse tradition.
The Atlantic Reined Cow Horse Association (ARCHA) was founded in 2006. We are a family oriented association offering opportunities to show for everyone from the experienced rider on a highly trained horse to beginners and children just becoming familiar and comfortable with riding in the show ring in front of people. We promote beginner classes for newcomers to familiarize themselves and their horses with the event, as well as riding clinics geared to help all levels of horses and riders.
The Atlantic Reined Cow Horse Association (ARCHA) is an NRCHA affiliate in the Northeast Region. The region includes the following:
Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Canadian Provinces of Ontario and Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador.
